A simple system for application deadlines

Keep official links, time zones and next steps together so important application dates are easier to follow.

Keep one record for each opportunity

Save the opportunity name, the official application link and the closing date in one place. Include the organisation’s stated time zone in your notes. A date shared in a group is a starting point for research; the official announcement is the place to confirm the current requirements. Our deadline planner can help you keep your own records and export dates to a calendar.

Separate the deadline from your preparation date

Set yourself an earlier date to finish documents and check the application form. References, transcripts and other supporting materials may take time. An application may also involve several stages with different dates. Create separate entries when the official instructions distinguish registration, payment, document submission or interviews.

Recheck before you act

Return to the official source before submitting. Announcements can be corrected, deadlines extended and forms replaced. Record when you last checked the information. If an update has no official link or uses an old year, verify it before relying on it. Do not assume a date from a previous cycle still applies.

Use groups for updates and your calendar for planning

A relevant group helps you discover announcements and discuss questions. Your calendar helps you act on what you have already verified. Save an all-day event from the planner, add a reminder in your calendar application, and keep checking the original source for exact closing times. The planner does not submit applications or send automatic alerts.

Put it into practice.
